We made our first trip of the spring season aboard the Skylarker and were happy to see the blackfish biting. A week ago, things seemed dismal on the fishing front, but the recent mild weather started the spring inshore fishing. Although the water is still cold everyone managed a few tog and even some black sea bass. I had five keeper tog and a dozen shorts. Capt. Howard of the Sea Hunter won the pool with a nine pound blackfish. The season for blackfish remains open for the month of April and we will be back at it soon.
