A Fishing Report

I spoke to the boat on the way in yesterday and Capt Steve was excited about the striped bass fishing. There has been a large body of jumbo bass off the Jersey coast for over a week now, and boats are coming in with epic catches. Some of these fish are topping the fifty pound mark. Bottom fishing has been a struggle due to the influx of dogfish. The big catches are coming from the boats running thirty or more miles offshore. The small boats are doing well with blackfish too. This is the time of year they bite on the inshore grounds and the season should be open now, not in the winter, when you are lucky to even catch one.

Busy Days

I have been home for a little more then a week and a day hasn't gone buy without a visit from a nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, social worker or a doctors appointment. I have not heard from the boys on the boat, but it seems there are some fish to catch when the weather cooperates. I will try to talk to everyone when I feel up to it. The forecast looks good for the next three days and everyone should be out there.

Four Long Months

Well, I have been a little busy with the fight of my life the past four months, so there was no fishing reports. I will try to keep the reports up to date, but the information will be second hand as my fishing days are on hold. I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers because they worked, I am still here. I would really like to thank Evelyn. Without her, I would never be able to make it, she is the only reason I hung on in the darkest hours. Like Lou Gerihg said, "I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth."
